Recruitment of Assistant Loco Pilot (ALP)
Details of the official notification from the Railway Recruitment Boards (RRB) for the recruitment of Assistant Loco Pilots (ALP), as per Centralised Employment Notice (CEN) No. 01/2025.
Here are the important points you should know:
✔ Key Dates:
- You can submit your application online starting April 12, 2025. Make sure to complete and send it no later than May 11, 2025, before midnight.
- The deadline to pay the application fee is May 13, 2025. Don’t miss it, as this is important for your application to be processed.
- If you need to correct any details in your application, you can do so between May 14 and May 23, 2025. It's a good idea to double-check your application during this window.
✔ Eligibility:
You must meet the educational and technical qualifications required by the last date of application submission. Check the list of qualifications needed to ensure you are eligible.
- Applicants should be aged between 18 and 30 years as of July 1, 2025. Some categories have special relaxations in age limits, so if you belong to such a category, verify the details to see if they apply to you.
- You also need to be medically fit, with particular focus on meeting the specific vision requirements. Ensure you have a medical certificate or check-up to confirm this.
✔ Vacancies:
There are 9,970 job openings for Assistant Loco Pilots (ALP) positions available across various RRBs and Railway Zones. This is a good opportunity if you are looking to work in the railways, so consider applying if you meet the criteria.
✔ How to Apply:
- You are allowed to apply to only one Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) and must submit just one application form for the recruitment process.
- It is suggested to use your Aadhaar for identification. This can make the application steps easier and faster.
- There is negative marking in the computer-based tests, known as CBT-1 and CBT-2. For every wrong answer you give, 1/3 of a mark will be deducted from your total score.
✔ Exam Fees:
- If you are classified as a general candidate, the fee is ₹500. However, if you attend the CBT-1, you can get ₹400 of your money back.
- For people in reserved categories, such as Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), Ex-Servicemen, and women, the exam fee is ₹250. This amount is fully refundable after you sit for the CBT-1 exam.
✔ Recruitment Process:
Stage 1: Computer Based Test (CBT-1)
- This test has multiple-choice questions and screens candidates for the next stage.
- You'll need to study Mathematics, General Intelligence and Reasoning, General Science, and General Awareness/Current Affairs.
- Be careful with your answers: for every wrong answer, 1/3 of a mark is deducted.
- About 15 times the number of job vacancies will move to the next stage based on test performance.
Stage 2: Computer Based Test (CBT-2)
This stage includes two parts:
✅ Part A:- Covers Mathematics, General Intelligence, Basic Science and Engineering, and General Awareness/Current Affairs.
✅ Part B:- Check your technical knowledge on the job you are applying .
- You need a minimum score in Part B to proceed further.
- There is negative marking here just like in Stage 1.
3. Computer Based Aptitude Test (CBAT)
- This test is only for candidates applying for the Assistant Loco Pilot role.
- It checks skills such as memory, reasoning, and focus.
- No negative marks will be deducted for wrong answers in this stage.
- Achieving at least 42 marks in each section is necessary to qualify.
4. Document Verification (DV)
- Candidates who perform well, will need to present their documents for verification.
- Bring original education certificates, proof of age, and if applicable, caste/category certificates.
- Any mistakes or false information can lead to being disqualified.
5. Medical Examination
- Candidates must meet specific health standards, including good eyesight and general physical fitness.
- If you don't pass the first medical check, you have the option to appeal.
6. Final Selection and Training
- Final selection depends on merit, meeting eligibility, and passing all stages.
- Selected candidates will receive training and a stipend during this period.
